Yacht Charter - Italy - Croatia - Greece - Turkey

Some of the many lettters recieved from satisfied customers during the......

2010  Season:

Everything was perfect!

Someone was waiting for us at the airport, check in was easy, wine and snacks were on the boat, staff was friendly and helpful, they helped us locate our lost luggage with the airlines, the boat was ready and clean, they provided charts, everything worked well on the boat for the entire (2) weeks, we were pulled over by the finance police and we had all the required documentation for the boat, and check out was easy.

I would definitely use them again and would also recommend them.

We had a terrific time thank you very much.

Check in was brillinat. Lovely lady on desk who was very flexable and accomodating.

Our Skipper, Dean, was just fantastic. Felt like one of our group by the end of the week. For a 22 year old lad, he was extremely professional and when we come back to Croatia we will request to have him as our skipper again! He's a credit to your company, he really is!

Yacht was perfectly clean and fresh.

Check out was simple and smooth.

Can't actually think of anything we could have had better. Just a perfect week.

Many thanks Bob

2009 Season:

Bob,

We got back from Italy late on Tuesday night after a fantastic week’s sailing around the beautiful island of Elba - we loved it!  Marco was the perfect skipper – very patient and kind - and became a true friend.  When we were struggling to find a taxi from Follonica station Pasquale at Controvento could not have been more helpful.  All in all I have to say it was the best week’s holiday ever.

Thank you so much for arranging everything so well.

Good afternoon Bob,

We had good winds and fair sailing during our visit to Sardinia.

The 2003 Oceanis 393 was in excellent condition for her age and had been carefully maintained and looked after. -  Full marks for the Base staff. -

The Oceanis 393 sailed extremely well  - partcularly upwind, and despite her high windage area was a very stable craft.

Sergio and his team were most helpful and deserve better than 7 hirings out of  a fleet of 27 boats. during our week. The recession is having an effect all over Europe.

Many thanks for your support.

Kind regards.

B.F (uk) Sardinia

Dear Bob,

It was all excellent. They did a great job. All of the items below were rated as very good. We did panic a bit about getting to the office before it closed to book in, but it was actually open til 6.30 or until everyone got on board

The clew on the jib blew out on the second last day which was a pain and too late to get anything done about it. It was a great holiday and 2 weeks was good but we could have stayed for longer! Thanks

S.D ( UK) Kastela, croatia

Hi Bob.

The charter went very well indeed, and the guys had a great time.

Looking at my notes, we visited a large numbers of harbours and anchorages on Brac, Vis, Dvenik Veli and other Islands, as well as a couple of nights out in Split.

The skipper  was exceptional, not only very competent, but also acting as instructor, local guide and sociable companion for runs ashore. He took us to places on shore we would never have found! (And of course the girls liked him particularly!)

Of course the boat was virtually brand new, so in terms of condition, equipment and inventory it was absolutely A1. The provided comfort pack, including linen and towels, etc, was also first rate. I didn't think there were enough spare cordage, but that's just a thing of mine.

So I have nothing but good words for the NYA guys, competent and friendly, and wouldn't hesitate to use them again next year.

Check - in, Base staff, Skipper, Yacht cleanliness, Yacht equipment, Check out - all excellent.

Your service was very efficient as well, so overall no problems at all and many thanks for your efforts!

All the best

Check – in/ Check out & transfers

Perfect - The captain graciously met us at our hotel in Split and escorted us to the ship via van and car. A  car and van met us on our final day and returned us to Dubrovnik.

Captain & Crew

They were perfect. Everyone was well attended to and the food was excellent. The crew adjusted quickly to our casual and informal style. You could not ask for more from either captain or crew.

Yacht cleanliness

[RGA] Perfect

Yacht equipment

We had everything that we needed or expected and then some.

and most of all our service and what we can do to improve it.

You performed impeccably as well. Thanks for a truly great and memorable family holiday.

2008 Season:

'The boat was great. A very competent sailing boat even in the 33-knot winds we had at the beginning of the holiday. . As a sail boat I can say that not much got past us!

The star of the show, however, does go to the base staff, particularly at Kastela. They were brilliant. Their English was good and their helpfulness could not be faulted. They provided us with excellent guide books (777 harbours and anchorages)which were very useful and the mobile phone SMS weather forecast each morning was shear brilliance! I wish all the companies did it. Even when we had to call into Sibenik for a repair to a faulty VHF aerial the company staff handled it perfectly.

We thoroughly enjoyed the whole thing. Hope to be in contact next year.'

'through out the process you were very helpful with ALL my many questions and queries. thank you for helping to make this holiday great. we will be going to sailing again and I would definetly request you assistance'

'OceanBLUE service has been very good, with excellent communication and the boat exactly as you described. We would certainly use your services again!'

'Many thanks for arranging the charter and last minute changes for us. We had a fantastic weeks sailing helped by good weather.

We were most impressed by Croatia and NYA and will certainly be recommending you to fellow sailing friends.'

C.D ( Scotland) Cyclades 50.5 Sibenik

'we had a very nice week.Andro and Josip were very helpful in providing suggestions that turned out to be good. Facilities in the port were good and the showers most welcome after a cool and damp trip. The boat was fine. Much better maintained than our last charter. The Bavarias are rock solid and handled well despite the mass.. Check-out was fast and painless. Four old men on a 44 can'd do much damage in a week. We overnighted next to another Bv. 44 with 10 (ten) people on board! Still can't figure out where/if/with whom they all slept.'

C.C ( USA) Bavaria 44 Dubrovnik

'I would like to say that every one of our crew absolutely loved this holiday and we look forward to a repeat in the near future. Maybe I´ll just list the pluses for simplicity: * Adriana (sp?, the office manager). She was incredibly professional, pleasant, and efficient. A terrific first and last impression.*You (Bob). Thank you for your prompt assistance and hard work setting up the charter beforehand. Everything was in order upon our arrival due to your preparation. My primary decision factors when choosing your company were price and the opportunity to hire a gennaker* The boat was in overall great shape and dead easy to operate. *Croatia was a lovely destination. Compared to my previous 6 charters the biggest excitement for me mooring at the outskirts of a old castle walls and visiting the charming cities inside.

That's all that comes to mind. I hope my feedback is worthwhile. I would like to re-iterate that we all had a wonderfully memorable vacation and would 'do it again' it was truly a great first experience for my entire crew.'

'We had a wonderful week in Croatia, very hot and very little wind for sailing but still very enjoyable. From arrival at Split airport the staff of the base were excellent, we were collected promptly and taken directly to the office to complete the paperwork. The cleanliness of the yacht was very good and the overall inventory was very comprehensive, including the on board mobile phone and daily weather report text,  which was a brilliant idea.  Check out was very good.  We were very surprised to see a diver inspecting the bottoms of the boats but this reinforces the charter companies attention to detail. We will certainly be back to you again.

S.B ( Glamorgan) Bavaria 37 Kastela

'The whole family had a very good time in Sicily and the Eolean Islands organized  on the Cayo Blanco catamaran. Starting with Giovanni and Lora at the base, who gave us a good support for every request, we also had excellent skippers with a perfect knowledge of the region. And last but not least, thanks to you Bob who from the very beginning helped to make this holliday a success.'

2007 Season:

'We have now returned from our week sailing in Sardinia and I would like to pass on my and my crews comments: The boat was in very good condition and spotlessly clean on handover. The weather and the Sardinian / Corsican coast were fantastic. The transfer to and from the airport worked out fine and the 'formalities' were carried out with a minimum of fuss. Most of all I would like to say that the staff especially Sergio were excellent. Always helpful and obliging and never stopped smiling even under pressure..We will certainly go back.'

C.W. (UK) First 47.7 Sardinia

'We all had an absolutely fantastic holiday. Thank you for recommending Touch - she was a lovely boat, but the crew were ace, and that makes all the difference however nice the boat. To respond to your feedback queries in order: Petar was very efficient in Dubrovnik, friendly and informative. It was too hot to ask for a tour during the day, so we'll go back when it's cooler to see the city in more detail during daylight hours. We had a delightful few evenings in the old town. Petar helped us on to the boat as arranged. The crew were wonderful. I felt sorry that I hadn't asked on your preference form for them to interact with us even more, but when you fill out those forms it seems safest to go for the middle ground. As it was, they were very friendly but respectful at all times. They seemed delighted to bring out the dressing up box, leading to a couple of hilarious fancy dress parties. The deckhand, filmed the entire holiday and set it to music on DVD for us to take home as a souvenir.. Andy was, as might be expected, the straight man, but we admired his attention to detail. When he said it would take so long to reach somewhere, or that we would be leaving at a certain time, you could be certain it would happen. We always had a good anchorage or berth, and didn't appear to get messed about too much by the clipboard hitlers at the ports (although he probably kept all that well hidden).

The yacht looked beautiful - very clean, with (I thought) very feminine and graceful lines. Decor-wise on the inside, the salon had everything we and the kids could want - bar, games table and big tv. . There were plenty of toys, and nobody missed jetskiing. The meals were amazing. The chef, Jules, produced perfect light and tasty lunches, and wonderful dinners - there wasn't one thing that didn't get gobbled up (apart from the shameful rejection of one or two Michelin star quality puddings because we were too full to eat them).

Re the itinerary, we all absolutely loved Miljet, Korcula, Vis, and Hvar (where we stayed two nights and the teens watched the sun come up after dancing in the fort all night). We missed Split as a result, but buzzed it in the tender. Trogir, Skradin and the Kornatis were nice, and I enjoyed cycling along the banks of the Krka in the national park. . We should really have stayed at Birunji for a couple of days, which was absolutely charming and had a golf course. I gather it would have cost a lot to dock there overnight, but I would recommend making it an option, with a tender over to see the Pula amphitheatre and old town. Rovinj was also charming and it would have been nice to stay there longer, but we had to leave to beat some weather.

With regard to your service, we can't fault your recommendations! Thanks for everything - keep up the good work!'

'Bob , this was our best trip to date . Everything was A1 . In particular the staff at the Marina , and skippers were excellent '.

F.J. ( Epping) Sun Odyssey 43 & Bavaria 44 - Kastela

'Overall it was great, which is more of a compliment than it sounds,as two of the crew were complete novices, and one barely competent crew!!!

The yacht was excellent, asyou indicated the staff at NYA could not have been more helpful(even during the Saturday checkin wait). The sailing lived up to all the adverts with some excellent small coves to explore.Warning-although the pilot book indicates "mooring buoys"at various locations,we only found them at Lucice. We will definately be back.

Thanks for your help.'

P.F. (Brighton) Bavaria 39 Kastela

'Base Staff: “Le girls” very friendly, very helpful.  Yacht cleanliness – “perfect”. Yacht equipment – all ok. Check out:  No problem

But very happy with Ocean Blue overall.

The boat itself is terrific and she actually sails pretty well if you don’t try to point her to high of course.  Had her up to 9/10 knots under full main and jib in 12/14 knots true.  Very nice.

Everybody had a hugely enjoyable time, great weather (bloody hot), good winds, magnificent sailing waters (as you know) wonderful people, beautiful scenery and the restaurants . Would I do it again?  You bet! '

2006 Season:

'Just a note to let you that last week went extremely well. The boat was really well prepared and Josip and Andre were very helpful. We were also allowed to pick up the boat at 11am on the first Saturday and stay on it until our taxi arrived at lunchtime on the final Saturday ! My sons voted Petar "the best taxi driver in the world". He was very efficient but also really knowledgeable and took time out to show us the sights without increasing the fare. Thanks again for your helpful advice and efficient service.'

Check - in - good, efficient

Base staff - very helpful, friendly, fast

Yacht cleanliness - great

Yacht equipment - great

Check out - great

and most of all our service and what we can do to improve it. - we were very pleased overall and look forward to sailing through you again.

C.L. ( Italy ) Bavaria 40 ' Magic' Murter

'The office was friendly and efficient. Adriana couldn't have been more helpful. The 'boss', Sorry didn't remember his name, went out of his way to help us with transport for stores and to a good restaurant on our last night! The Bavaria 36 was in good shape, we had a great time with Pave, the best and most well informed hired skipper one could ever wish to sail with!!!Your handling of the event was happily very straight forward and if we decide on Croatia for next year you'll get a shout!'

J.L ( Hertfordshire) Bavaria 36 Kastela

'We had a wonderful weeks sailing. All the email communication with Ocean Blue was excellent - prompt responses and clear details. The base staff were friendly and helpful (even took us by car to collect supplies and arranged local accomodation for the Saturday night). The yacht was well prepared and very clean. The base staff work very hard at customer relations. Would definately recommend to others! ... and will be arranging future bookings'.

'we all had a great time, it has been well organised, the yacht was great and the weather got better each day, so no complaints. I,d definitely recommend your company and would hope to charter with you again'.

2005 Season:

Hi Bob,
Thought you'd be interested to know that we all had the time of our lives on the boat. The crew were indeed wonderful - young, fun, low key, affectionate with Holly (and the older kids) and, in the case of Nick the chef, very talented.  The itinerary was perfect - we saw whales, and dolphins swam twice with the boat off Corsica.  The coastline of Corsica and its towns were stunning, and we did see some film stars at Club 55 in St Trop!  We had fun with the toys and felt like royalty "posing" on the boat in port....Tim and Jim were doing very well with the ladies....they managed to chat up various "babes" up to the age of 18, God help us, with the aid of a large boat with its own  jacuzzi!  The weather was perfect the whole time, and everyone is very down now it's over.  We would definitely like to do something similar next year, perhaps Amalfi coast.  Thanks for all your help, and please stay in touch....we really did have the most fantastic time.
S.O. ( London )

We all had a marvellous holiday; the yacht was wonderful, clean and a lot larger than I anticipated.

The base staff were very helpful. Our Skipper Darko was fabulous, we found him to be very professional and friendly.  He showed us the best restaurants, best swimming spots and ensured that we had a lovely holiday.  I can honestly say that if we were to take a similar holiday again we would request him in a heart beat.  We have recommended him already to friends of ours that are interested in a similar holiday.

Thank you for all of your assistance in making our holiday so enjoyable.

Kind regards,

R.K. ( London)

Bob,

No problem. It was  a wonderful charter – I hope my father has such a good trip next week!

Check –in – Murter Ggric – Great spot but perhaps a bit relaxed!  The boat was excellent – spotless, but rather superficially gone over at inventory! Only comment was the toolkit is a bit weak and no sailmending stuff to effect simple repairs.Equipment excellent – only problem was jamming of steering on one occasion (luckily ) reported to Dubrovnik base.

Check out v smooth.

Transfers by Petar absolutely fantastic – he became our guide and intro to Croatia – cannot recommend him enough to anyone wanting help in Dubrovnik.

We are very keen to look at booking 2 weeks next year – perhaps Murter to Pula? Please let me know what you could offer in late July or August!

 Regards

2004 Season:

Hi Bob,

Best sailing vacation ever and I've sailed my own Swan 44 for over 20 years all over the western Atlantic.

Yacht Cleanliness & Equipment:  Perfect!  I was the first charterer of this 2004 Jenneau.  It was the first time in my life that I can remember EVERYTHING on a yacht working.  We had a minor problem with the dinghy outboard on the 4th day, but it was resolved in a day or two.

No wonder you are always sailing down there.

B.M ( California )

------------------------------

Dear Bob,
Regarding your request for feedback from our holiday, I offer the following:
1. It was a great trip and all was smooth (other than Al Italia losing our baggage for a day so we did miss a day of sailing...) - The Marina Charter group was simply great and very helpful.
2. The boat was nearly new and there were simply no issues with the equipment, which operated perfectly.  Mario noticed an old hose connection on the outdoor shower and replaced it before leaving without our needing to prompt him in any way. Nice attention to detail and very helpful. He is running a good show there and his staff is very nice.  The boat was very clean and fully stocked as expected.
3. The sailing area was excellent, and we very much enjoyed the trip. Highlights were Hvar and Vis.  Vis was our favorite spot with nice town and history but quiet and unassuming with fewer tourists.  Navigation is very easy with few rocks or obstructions to sailing - water drops deep just off shore points.  Markers are plentiful and its overall a great place to sail.

Thanks for your help, and we look forward to returning to Croatia down the road, and would not hesitate to use you or Marina Charter again!
Cheers,
C M ( New York)

Hi Bob,

In a word – Superb!, the boat, the staff, the country, the people.

All my guests were full of compliments and kept saying: “Best holiday we have ever had.”

A word re the people at the Trogir base – besides being truly nice people, they were efficient, friendly and couldn’t do enough for us.

All in all – a real pleasure.

So much so that Moira and I are considering spending our remaining ½ of our annual holidays, repeating the whole exercise.

Any suggestions?

Look forward to hearing from you.

Best,

J. K. ( Amsterdam)

................................................

Hi Bob,

Thank you... We had a wonderful holiday.

Firstly I would like to say that the whole service from yourself at OceanBlue to Grgic Yacht Charter was very professional and friendly.

We were picked up at the Airport and given a beautiful drive through the mountains to Bettina.  Darkov, our driver, was very friendly.

The Staff at Betina were excellent and very helpful.

The Elan 31 was a good, clean yacht and was equipped with most of everything we needed.  As you know my main priorities were , Fridge, Hot Water and CD Player.  Two out of three ain't bad!!!!

Alas the CD Player was not operational but I listened to Radio Kornati instead while I was taking a nice HOT Shower and sipped a nice COLD beer!!!

The yacht mechanics (engine etc) and sails were in excellent condition and ensured that we had faith in our yacht to see us safely through our holiday.

Geoff and I really enjoyed sailing in the islands and although we had a BORA for two days, the rest of the time was lovely sunshine and mild winds.

We hope to come back to Croatia next year and travel south towards Dubrovnik.  We will definitely be using this charter again and will certainly recommend it to one and all.

Thanks again for a really enjoyable time.

Kind Regards
R & G ( Anglesea )

Dear Bob,

Recently returned from Croatia to find your kind e-mail. Thank you again for your professional service; should you ever want a testimonial from me just let me know.

The base staff were very helpful and professional. We found the yacht very clean and in good order.
Magic sailed better than I ever expected. As the ladies on-board were less partial to lean-to sailing than the boys, I usually had 3/4 main up and 3/4 - full genoa in a constant F4/5 and we would cruise very happily and 7.5 knots with little lean. We hit a couple of 8.5's too.
The whole crew had a great time - Magic looked after us and we looked after Magic - I'm pretty sure she has never been returned in such a clean and working condition. The plotter was great fun too - great toy - would not be surprised if there are no charts on boats in 10 years time.

Hope your business goes from strength to strength - have already recommended you to a number of my clients for next year. All being well, we'll be in touch for 2005 too.

Best

Dear Bob,
I take great pleasure in telling you that this was by some margin the best holiday in terms of boat, base staff and general efficiency that we've experienced in over 20 years. Simon and Merina run an efficient little base, were responsive to the few small faults with the boat, none of which affected the holiday at all. The boat was spotless, well equipped ( exc. no cruising shute), the 1st day briefing was thorough although Simon quickly recognised that Tony & I had some familiarity with Beneteaus generally, and whenever we called him by mobile with a query he responded by return (e.g. running out of gas after 4 days due to a leak).
Our [plan next year is to sail further south from Gocek or Marmaris, so I discussed with Simon availability of a 38ft for 4 of us if you might have someone happy to do a one-way either to or from Yalikavak around early/mid Sept. In other words happy to stick with OceanBlue if that can be arranged.

2003.........................................

Dear Bob,

We had a fantastic time sailing for 2 weeks in Croatia aboard the Nimue.

Lee Dowell is a wonderful captain who makes safety a priority so his passengers can  relax knowing they are being very well taken care of. Lee was a very patient sailing instructor as well.

The Nimue is incredibly well-equipped, in perfect condition, spotless, and quite luxurious, especially with only 3 people on board.

Best regards,

Dear Bob,

We had a truly fantastic vacation - and I mean fantastic!

I must tell you that M/Y "Never say Never" is even better in real life than in the photographs.  What a beautiful yacht in every respect... The crew were really nice and well experienced, and the chef was absolutely first class.

We could easily have spent a few more days (weeks) on that yacht.  The equipment on board was also first rate, and the service in every respect was great.  The attention to detail was very impressive.  I've tried to think of some negatives to balance what I've just written, but in all honesty, I could not find even a minor fault.

We sailed in the Argo-Saronic group of islands because the captain advised us that it was rather windy in the Cyclades - and he was right.  We enjoyed the lovely places that we visited, and would go back again in a heart-beat.  He knew every cove, island, harbour, marina, etc.

I'd also like to comment that OceanBLUE (and yourself) was a pleasure to deal with.  I particularly appreciated your advice at the beginning of our discussions, and most especially the speed with which you responded to my questions and concerns.  Please feel free to use my name/e-mail or telephone number as a reference for your potential clients.  I would also be more than happy to provide references for M/Y "Never say Never".

I'll certainly be in touch with you for our next charter, although I don't think that you can do better than this!

Kind regards,

M.A. ( Toronto )

Thanks very for this, we had a wonderful trip with a super boat and super service at the front and back end.

We would certainly consider booking our next charter through OceanBLUE, we thoroughly enjoyed the trip.

Bob,

I wanted to thank you and Vinka / Zoran for your part in a great holiday.

I was very impressed with the ease of picking the boat up and the boat itself was ideal for our requirements. The whole team out there was very helpful.

I hope you had a good holiday also and we both wish we could go right back there now and do it all again in sunny Murter!

Cheers

..........................................................

Dear Bob,

Returned from our fantastic holiday I would like to thank you once again for the arrangement.................

What a fantastic boat this Dehler 36 is. We are not so very much experienced and it took us a couple of days to get to know it, but after some days the more experienced sailers in our group asked us if we where motorsailing. Which we were not.

We had a great holiday and met some very nice people.

Thank again and hope to hear from you.

Regards,

Bob

Just to say that my family had a terrific two weeks on 'Brk' - a very new Elan 333 out of Betina.  She sailed very well and the conditions were perfect - namely F5 and sun.  The team were very helpful and I met the owner of the boat (in fact he owns three Elans).

This was our second holiday season in Croatia - last year we sailed out of Split around the southern islands.  Sadly we are returning to UK soon so will not return there, I expect.  But Croatia is becoming ever more popular although not many Brits in evidence yet because of lack of flights.  The roads to/from Zagreb or Rijecka are jammed packed at peak weekends..................... The Jadrolinia or SEM ferry from Italy (Venice, Ancona) or Rijecka is recommended.

Many thanks.

Regards - David
