Yacht charter in Turkey...................

Bareboat, Skippered & Fully Crewed yachts available from Bodrum, Marmaris, Gocek & Fethiye.

Few countries in the world have such a cultural diversity as Turkey. Spanning over two continents combining the East, the West & the Orient of today with the ancient Byzantine, Ottoman, Roman & Persian empires. Turkey stands in a class of its own. The Turquoise Coast called 'Akdeniz', is now developing as a major sun & sailing paradise. For that special experience, the pure & untouched areas are best reached by your own Luxury yacht or Bareboat charter yacht.

We now have 2 bases for bareboat & skippered yacht charter - MarinTurk Marina - Gocek & Port Bodrum Marina Yalikavak, both English run. We are also, able to offer the very best fully crewed Gulets, and Luxury fully crewed Motoryachts & Sailing yachts, all regularly inspected by our local agents, to ensure they maintain the highest standards.

Below we have given a very brief outline of some of the beautiful places that await you on your yacht charter in Turkey.

Bodrum is the premier yachting centre in Turkey. Surrounded by wild mountains, it offers a panorama of history, mythology & spectacular scenery. Dominated by the medieval caste of St. Peter, it was the birth place of Herodutus & an important port & capital of the kingdom of Caria. The city is also home to the tomb of Mausolus, one of the Seven Wonders of the World, belonging to the third century B.C.

Contemporary Bodrum is primarily devoted to more hedonistic pleasures of Sailing, Sunbathing & Partying. It is home to the renowned " Halkarnas Hotel', an outdoor discotheque, where the jet -set go to be seen partying among the stone pillars and laser beams until the early hours. Bodrum is also well known as a bohemian artistic centre & is an excellent place to shop for Turkish Handicrafts.

Once you leave the harbour, the vast expanse of the Gulf of Gokova stretches before you, this area alone has enough stunning places to visit for at least a week of sailing. .

Sailing south, guarded by the Greek island of Symi, is the Gulf of Hisaronu, which means Gulf of Fortresses, a reference to the many ancient & medieval forts scattered around the hills of the Gulf. Dacta, being the largest village in the gulf and an ideal place to provision between Marmaris & Bodrum, is well worth a visit as it is still relatively untouched by tourists and very picturesque.

Marmaris, situated where the Aegean & Mediterranean seas meet, lies in a natural harbour surrounded by pine forests stretching down to the waterfront. Bazaars & restaurants dominate this traditional Turkish seaside town together with a medieval fortress. Marmaris is a true harbour full of yachts of all shapes & sizes & is said to have the best marina in the Eastern Mediterranean. Just 4kms from here, is the peaceful Adaagzi Bay, with crystal clear water surrounded by green palms and eucalyptus trees. The most pleasant factor about this idyllic spot is the cooling onshore breeze that reduces the temperature by some 4-5 degrees compared to Marmaris. It is also home to one of our bases.
Continuing southwest, The Gulf of Fethiye alone has enough bays to find a different place to anchor every night with wonderful swimming and snorkeling in clear waters. Perhaps that is why it is the most popular area along the coast. The Gulf is small and protected by the islands in the east. In most bays you can find a restaurant. Among the numerous bays we recommend Karpi Creek & Wall Bay. In the north of the bay is Gocek, a pretty market town and harbour. Being only 40 minutes from Dalman Airport, it is also one of our most convenient bases. There are many good restaurants and shops ashore.

SAILING CONDITIONS

The sailing season starts in April when everywhere is lush and green and the anchorages are very quiet. In May the days become longer and warmer and the sea is a little more inviting. June brings balmy evenings and in July and August Turkey reaches temperatures around 90c. Fortunately the prevailing winds are cool so the nights are not too uncomfortable. September and October are popular months particularly for swimming in the warm seas.

The prevailing winds are from the North West. Typically the wind picks up in the late morning, reaching 4-5 in the afternoon, before dropping again in the evening. Even in July and August when the winds can be stronger, you can expect the wind to be less fresh in the mornings.
